#021. Dear Divorce Coach/ft. Cherie Morris

As we enter midlife, we change, and so can our relationships. What once was the perfect relationship has become unbearable to some. Separation or divorce may be looming on the horizon. We encounter many stressful situations, and once the divorce process starts, we are dealing with an avalanche of problems. We feel helpless and don’t know where to turn to get the advice we can trust.

In this emotion-driven time, we want someone to guide us and help us decide: “Should I stay or should I go,” my friend Cherie Morris who wrote a book with the same title, is the right person to help out with sound advice.

A divorce may be looming when significant issues within the marriage are unresolved or unaddressed. This can include persistent conflict, a breakdown in communication, emotional or physical infidelity, or fundamental differences in life goals and values.

Often, persistent resentment, a lack of respect, or general unhappiness can signal an impending divorce. Financial disagreements and disputes over child-rearing practices can also strain the relationship to the point of divorce.

Moreover, when couples find themselves consistently more unhappy than content, or when there is more criticism than support, it often indicates that a marriage is in trouble. However, it’s important to remember that many of these issues can be worked on, and with the right support, many marriages can recover and thrive.
