    With over three decades in the fitness industry, understanding client motivation has been central to my work. Discovering “The Joy Choice” by Michelle Segar” was revelatory, introducing me to the POP method—Pause, Options, Pick—which has since influenced my coaching approach. This method provides a clear framework for decision-making in health and fitness, making it easier for clients to grasp and apply.

    How The POP Method Works:

    1. Pause: Like hitting pause on a movie, we take a moment to calmly assess our situation without rushing. This step helps clear the mind of frustration, allowing us to view our circumstances with clarity. Example: Before making dinner, pause to consider what ingredients you have, how much time you can dedicate to cooking, and your nutritional needs
    2. Options: This is where creativity and flexibility come into play. We explore all possible ways to stay on track with our health goals, regardless of the hurdles. Example: If time is tight, options might include a quick salad, a smoothie packed with greens and protein, or a simple stir-fry using whatever veggies are on hand.
    3. Pick: We then choose the option that best suits our current needs and goals, making a conscious decision to stay aligned with our health aspirations.

    By applying the POP method, we can navigate our health and fitness journey with less guilt and more flexibility, making decisions that support our well-being without feeling overwhelmed by perfectionism.
