Many active women over 50 have to deal with chafing while exercising, and you may be one of them. Why do you chafe? What do you do to prevent it? Chafing is painful, but what to do about it? Find out in this week’s episode how to prevent chafing while exercising!

How To Prevent Chafing While Exercising

While exercising, chafing might not be the first thing that comes to mind. However, it’s a reality that can cause discomfort and pain. Nevertheless, there exist effective strategies to mitigate and prevent this issue.

Chafing, a common problem among active women, results from repeated skin or clothing friction during exercise. Sweat can worsen this issue, making skin more vulnerable to damage.

Chafing is painful, but what to do about it?

Preventing chafing primarily involves selecting proper workout attire, including moisture-wicking, seamless clothing to minimize friction. Specialized sports underwear and compression shorts can significantly reduce chafing risk in high-friction areas like thighs, underarms, and the bra line.

Chafing between the inner thighs while running is a common issue due to the repeated friction that occurs during strides. To prevent this, consider wearing moisture-wicking, seamless, and well-fitted clothing, including compression shorts, to reduce friction. Applying anti-chafing balm or powder to the inner thighs can also create a protective barrier and absorb sweat. Remember to stay hydrated, as well-hydrated skin is more resilient to chafing.

Maintaining dry skin is crucial, with anti-chafing powders and balms providing excellent sweat absorption and friction reduction. For those preferring natural options, coconut oil can offer relief.  With the right clothing, skincare, and post-exercise treatment, chafing can be successfully prevented and managed, allowing you to focus on your athletic pursuits without discomfort. You can prevent chafing while running on your inner thighs. Find out more tips in this week’s episode.
