Are you ready to learn about the 3 things you can do to boost your self-confidence? Then read on!

I have some new decorations in my office that describe my feelings on this subject, which can seem complicated. They say, “You got this!” “Be fiercely you!” and “Pursue Your Spark!” When challenges arise for myself or my clients, this is what we need to remember.

    Think Back

We all have one common thread – we started as babies that didn’t know how to do anything. It didn’t bother you that you couldn’t walk or talk, we lived each moment, and as time went on, we grew our confidence.

There was a first everything, a first roll, a first crawl, the first time we learned to grab and hold something. Eventually, we repeated the same steps many times and built them up to the point of understanding how to put one foot in front of the other, even when we had failed 100 times before. It takes confidence to do that, yet it is instinctual when we are children to have such confidence; it can become less natural as we age.

Think of it in your life, baby steps that you’ve taken to get to where you are right now, to achieve the confidence you have right now. Life was unpredictable, and you didn’t know how it would turn out. You could have failed, missed your mark, had unforeseen consequences, and had to take chances. So it takes a lot of confidence to do “the rollover.”

But didn’t it make you feel more confident when you DID it?

Confidence comes from practicing things. Confidence comes from other people supporting, helping, and encouraging you. It comes from learning about mistakes that you made in the past or something that you tried out, and they may have been okay, but they didn’t quite work out. That’s part of confidence, and confidence, my friends, has to be earned.

Nobody’s born saying, “Hello, I am confident.” people find it easier than others to be more confident, but to shine and be fiercely you, remember, be wildly you takes practice. So I have three ideas for you on how you can spruce, water, and grow your confidence.

Are you eating better? – You can’t know what foods to pick in the beginning. You can’t know what exercises benefit you in midlife – why would you – I help support and teach you.

Things you have tried and didn’t work are also part of confidence.

To Shine and Be Fiercely You Takes Practice. I share three things you can do to boost your self-confidence with you.

3  Things You Can Do To Boost Your Self-Confidence

    1. Say NO.

I have repeated this, and it bears repeating (by you and me.) No is not a dirty word! It strengthens your confidence by taking control of who you are.

A client of mine was recently traveling, and her family insisted she bring home specific items for them, such as Gucci shoes. She didn’t want to but felt compelled to say yes out of pressure. We practiced saying no together.

You could say, “No, my suitcase is full,” which would give you an excuse, or “No, not right now, but maybe at another time,” which puts you in a precarious situation where maybe the next time you do have to bring that gift, or you say, “No, no, thank you.” “No.” Don’t say, “No, I am sorry.” Because you know you’re not sorry. And women tend to feel always compelled to say sorry. Just say, No.

Don’t explain, say you’re sorry and I’m sorry, and don’t postpone it. Just say no thank you, I can’t do it. And that’s all you have to do.

Choose what’s important to you. Confidence doesn’t come by taking on a million and one things to do — set priorities in the items you want to feel confident in.

    2. Choose what is important to you.

Building Confidence is all about making choices. It comes from knowing precisely what you want and having a plan. It doesn’t happen by taking on a million and one things to do. Set priorities for the items you want to feel confident in

For example, if Nutrition is crucial to you, I show you how to shop based on our lean-out goals in the Pursue Your Spark Blueprint. It may be natural to go to the bakery and soft drink aisle but have confidence in what is on your list and stick to that to honor yourself. It takes practice, but if you make a priority for yourself, you will feel so amazing.

Don’t take on everything; pick what matters most in your life. Pick one of the three things to boost your self-confidence.

    3. Create confidence through repetition.

Many of us think that doing something one time will stick, we’ll nail it, and we own that habit. Habits take repetition repeatedly, something you’ve done for years. And the good news is that you can make or break them at any time.

For instance, a little snack with afternoon coffee is common in many offices. The bite in the afternoon has become more of a habit, but a practice that doesn’t serve you if you want to lose weight if you’re going to decrease your sugar intake, or kick the habit because you don’t need it. Replace it with another better practice, for example, taking a little walk during that time when the cravings hit or chatting with your coworker briding that time. Repeat the same strategy every day, and over time, you might be able to overcome those sweet cravings.

It takes repetition to gain confidence in changing habits. Not everything will go smoothly but don’t give up and continue to work on that new habit.

    Now Make It Happen

So remember to say no unapologetically, choose what is most important to you, and repetition will help you change habits. I dare you to try these three things you can do to boost your self-confidence.
