    My dear friend and fellow runner, Patricia Scott, is my first guest on the show. I can’t wait to share her amazing story with you.     As Patricia, an experienced ultramarathoner, here’s my distilled advice for anyone aspiring to run ultra distances:

    1. Consistent Incremental Training: Increase your mileage slowly and steadily. Overdoing it too soon risks injury.
    2. Mastering Long Runs: Schedule long and sometimes consecutive runs. It’s about learning to run when you’re tired – just like in an ultra.
    3. Cross Training: Keep your body balanced and injury-free. Activities like swimming or yoga complement running perfectly.
    4. Food and Fluid Strategy: Eating and drinking during a race is a skill. Practice during training runs to know what works for you.
    5. Mental Fortitude: Cultivate mental toughness. Ultras are as much a mind game as a physical endurance test.
