#123 5 Ways To Stop Cravings That Actually Work

There you are again, sitting on the couch watching TV when a commercial for your favorite pizza restaurant comes on. You see how ooey-gooey the cheese looks, and your mouth starts watering. You think, “It can’t be all that bad, right? I’ll just give in and order this pizza one time and not make a habit out of it.” I share 5 ways to stop cravings that actually work and that anyone can start today!

You order yourself a pizza, and the next thing you know, you always have the urge to have pizza late at night now, and the craving is even stronger! You end up feeling even more insatiable for salty, cheesy foods than ever!

Food cravings are a common experience, and they occur for various reasons. They can be driven by both psychological and physiological factors. From a physiological perspective, our bodies might crave certain foods to meet a nutritional need or deficit. For example, we might crave salty foods when our body needs sodium.

Emotionally, we often crave foods linked with comfort or pleasure, like the desire for chocolate or a favorite meal when we’re stressed or need a mood boost. Certain hormones, such as leptin and ghrelin, which control hunger and satiety, also play a role in food cravings. Moreover, environmental cues can influence cravings, such as seeing or smelling delicious food. Understanding the root cause of cravings can help us make healthier choices and maintain a balanced diet.
