Molly Watts and Angela McDade are the co-creators of Five for Life, the Five for Life Planner, the HABIT MINDSET, and co-hosts of the Live HAPPIER Longer Podcast. They are on a mission to help people learn how to get the most out of their lives while living a longer, happier life. Today you’ll learn about how to build habits of everyday happiness!
This power friendship duo has spent years sharing ideas and stories and researching scientific studies to see why some people thrive at all ages, and others struggle. You can build the habits of everyday happiness, and we show you how.
What Are Habits and Why Are They Important
Habits are behaviors or practices performed regularly, often automatically, and without conscious thought. They can be related to any aspect of life, including health, fitness, productivity, personal relationships, and more.
Habits can be either beneficial or detrimental. For example, brushing your teeth every morning and night is a beneficial habit that promotes oral health. On the other hand, the habit of smoking cigarettes would be considered detrimental due to its negative impact on health.
Habits are formed through a process of learning and repetition. The more a behavior is repeated, the more it becomes ingrained in our neural pathways, which can make it feel automatic or “second nature.” This process involves a neurological pattern called a “habit loop,” which consists of a cue, a routine, and a reward. Find out more in this week’s episode about building the habits of everyday happiness.
