#043. Get Out And Chase Your Dreams/ft. Helene Dumais

Helene Dumais. Athlete, Coach, Film Producer, Record Breaker, Woman, Human Being. What makes this native-born French Canadian so extraordinary? Her love of running and matter-of-fact ease of planning and finishing some of the world’s longest races make her the girl next door and also the female idol we have been waiting for. Helene’s love of running makes her get out and chase her dreams.

    Running Can Be Addictive

Running can become an addictive activity for women, largely due to its physiological and psychological benefits. It triggers the release of endorphins, leading to a euphoric “runner’s high” that can be quite addictive. Additionally, the rhythmic nature of running serves as an effective stress reliever, providing mental tranquility. Regular running enhances physical fitness and body image, boosting confidence and self-esteem.

The sense of community in running groups further enriches the experience, while the accomplishment of goals, such as completing a race or achieving a personal best, offers a rewarding sense of achievement. However, balancing this enthusiasm with caution is essential to avoid overtraining and potential injuries.

Get Out And Chase Your Dreams/ ft. Helene Dumais

She runs races, has competed in obstacle courses, conquered marathons, and made history by being the first woman ever to finish Infinitus, the Ulta Marathon that lasts 10 days straight and is 888 kilometers long.

Helene shares her inspiring journey of what it takes to break all the records by, first and foremost, believing in her mind and all the practicalities that come with doing the impossible – how to manage sleep, training, nutrition, and sanity while putting her body under tremendous amounts of challenging circumstances.

She explains what goes through her head during these rigors, which makes her smile, and how she is now giving back to humanity.

She also shares the inspiring story of her 73-year-old mother, who follows in her footsteps and never says, “It’s too late,” again. Don’t miss this awesome episode!
