My dear friend and fellow runner, Patricia Scott, is my first guest on the show. I can’t wait to share her amazing story with you. She shares how she became an ultramarathon runner (running 100-mile races) and how to train for those kinds of races. If you want to run an ultramaraton then you came to the right place!
Proven Strategies for Ultramarathon Success/ft Patricia Scott
As Patricia, an experienced ultramarathoner, here’s my distilled advice for anyone aspiring to run ultra distances:
- Consistent Incremental Training: Increase your mileage slowly and steadily. Overdoing it too soon risks injury.
- Mastering Long Runs: Schedule long and sometimes consecutive runs. It’s about learning to run when you’re tired – just like in an ultra.
- Cross Training: Keep your body balanced and injury-free. Activities like swimming or yoga complement running perfectly.
- Food and Fluid Strategy: Eating and drinking during a race is a skill. Practice during training runs to know what works for you.
- Mental Fortitude: Cultivate mental toughness. Ultras are as much a mind game as a physical endurance test.
Remember, listen to your body and be patient with progress. Happy running!
How To Run And Train For An Ultra Marathon with Patricia Scott
If you are a runner, you might understand why Patricia is going the distance to running more than 26.1 miles (the distance of a regular marathon) and love it. But if you are not, you could think, “That’s crazy”! It is a bit, but I want you to listen to how she trains, eats, sleeps, and arranges her life around her training schedule.
