The terms mindful and intuitive eating are interchangeable, but they mean slightly different things. Find out the difference between mindful vs. intuitive eating in this episode. While mindful eating and intuitive eating both promote a healthier and more positive relationship with food, they differ in certain aspects.
Mindful eating is primarily about the act of eating itself, focusing on fully experiencing the process of eating. It emphasizes being present and attentive to the flavors, textures, and feelings associated with eating, as well as your body’s hunger and fullness cues.
On the other hand, intuitive eating is a broader concept, encompassing not just the act of eating but the whole relationship with food. It includes rejecting diet culture, honoring your hunger and fullness cues, respecting your body regardless of size and shape, and finding joy in movement. Intuitive eating aims to cultivate a sustainable, healthy relationship with food, body image, and exercise, whereas mindful eating is a tool that can be used within the practice of intuitive eating.
