Hello! I’m Heike Yates. As a single mom with two kids, I turned my passion for helping midlife women into two successful businesses. Our focus is on rediscovering health and strength, breaking through limiting beliefs, and supporting each other. Welcome to our community, where we inspire and empower each other on this journey!
From 9 – 5 To Living My Dream
I used to be part of the 9-to-5 grind, but I always knew there was more out there for me. Taking a leap of faith, I moved to Washington, D.C., where things started to change. I began to work on projects that fueled my passion and gave me a sense of freedom I’d never felt before.
Becoming a mom was a life-changer. While fulfilling, it also had challenges, like feeling stuck at home. I decided to get divorced when my kids were 4 and 8 years old, and I had to make a living and a home for my kids on $300 a month. Times were really tough, but I knew I could get back on my feet and create a new life for us. Fitness was my gateway to happiness and perseverance.
It all shifted in 1992 (when my oldest son was born) when a friend introduced me to the world of fitness. From that moment, I was hooked.
One of my proudest achievements came in 2010 when I developed Pilates with Resist-A-Ball. This unique approach is effective and gentler on the joints, filling a gap in traditional fitness routines. But the achievements didn’t stop there; I also lost 50 pounds after my first pregnancy, proving the transformational power of regular exercise.
Not one to rest on my laurels, I’ve spent years expanding my expertise. I’ve earned multiple certifications and tackled diverse fitness challenges—from bodybuilding to Ironman Triathlons. This hands-on experience has made me a versatile coach capable of understanding and addressing the unique fitness needs of individuals, especially those navigating the challenges of aging.
All of this led to one of my most fulfilling achievements: founding Pursue Your Spark in 2017. More than just a business. It’s a platform where I’ve been able to empower countless midlife women. Through this venture, many have broken free from limiting beliefs, gaining new levels of energy, confidence, and purpose.
My philosophy is simple: wellness should be accessible, enjoyable, and sustainable. I believe that small, consistent changes can lead to big results. I’m here to support you every step of the way, providing you with the knowledge, tools, and encouragement you need to succeed.

A Little About Me
I love the outdoors, and that’s where you will find me most of the time.
Spending time with my two kids makes my heart sing (even if they live on opposite sides of the world).
Becoming a first-time grandma is incredible, and I thought I was all cool about it.
I have been known to say, “Exercise is good for you.” (Okay…I say it a lot).
Eating healthy is important to me, but I keep my ingredients to around 10 for each dish 😉
My positivity and energy are contagious.
I love working with Heike! She is always positive, gives great feedback, is very responsive to questions, and has made a difference in my fitness level.
